Richard Carlile, English radical publisher and writer. Inspired by the reformist writings of Thomas Paine, he distributed various radical tracts, including those of William Hone, and wrote works of his own. For his published accounts of the 1819 Peterloo Massacre, he was charged with blasphemy and seditious libel and sentenced to six years in prison. George Augustus Frederick was born August 12, 1762, the eldest son of George III of England and Queen Charlotte Sophia of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. He was created Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester on September 8, 1762. George Augustus became a knight of the Garter on December 28, 1765, and was presented to the public in October, 1768.
